Jerry Lynn McPherson, 82, of Moody, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024. Born in Limestone County, Groesbeck, Texas on November 8, 1942, he was the son of Guy Coleman and Glenna Inez Williams McPherson.
On March 1, 1963, Jerry married the love of his life, Darlene Armstrong McPherson, and together they shared a strong and enduring bond for over six decades. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who took immense pride in his family. He always cherished talking about his loved ones and was deeply proud of the legacy they built together.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Glenna McPherson; his brother, Coley McPherson; his son, Barry McPherson; and his stepfather, Neal Medlen. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Armstrong McPherson; his brother, Michael Medlen; his sister, Gail Smelscer and her husband, Butch of Lorena; his sons, Darron McPherson and his wife, Stephanie of Moody, and Miles McPherson and his wife, Jami of Moody; his beloved grandchildren, Cortney, Darla, Jessica, Coleman, Taylor, Erynne, Rori, Miley, and Cypress Goodwin, and his many nieces and nephews.
A skilled plumber for 57 years, Jerry served the Waco community and surrounding areas with dedication and pride. His work ethic and expertise made him a well-respected figure in the trade, and he was known for always going above and beyond.
Outside of his career, Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and sharing his passion for the outdoors with his family. Whether it was a weekend fishing trip or a hunting outing, Jerry found peace and joy in nature and was happy to pass on his knowledge and love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren.
Above all, Jerry was a family man. His love for his family was boundless, and he made time for them at every opportunity. His legacy lives on through the countless memories he made, the lessons he imparted, and the love he gave so freely.
A funeral service to honor Jerry’s life will be held on January 02, 2025, at 2:00 pm and visitation at 1:00 pm, at Cole Funeral Home.
Jerry’s legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to his family will never be forgotten. He was a remarkable man whose kindness, strength, and dedication touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
