Dorothy Drew Dorothy Drew

Dorothy Jane Hyles Drew, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 25, 2024.
Dorothy was born May 2, 1932, in Walnut Springs, Texas.
She met and married the love of her life, A.E.Drew. They had an amazing life of 60 years together before he passed away.
Dorothy was tuning her violin for the Sunday night church service when in walked this handsome young man from the city asking where the Training Union Class was. They dated, married, and their life adventure began. While living on their ranch, their first daughter, Debbie, was born. He was drafted, and they moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where their second daughter, Connie, was born. Their third daughter, Tina, was born while he was teaching and coaching in Valley Mills, Texas, and Dorothy stayed home taking care of the girls. In their next move to McGregor, Dorothy worked in the library while her husband was coaching. Her ministry in life was helping young people.
From the time she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, she was called to minister to young people. Her life took her many places, but she was always sharing Jesus, even to the time of her death.
Dorothy is survived by her three daughters. Debbie and her husband Boyd Hering of McGregor. Connie and husband Bill Smith of Waco. Tina Simpson and Jon Goldstein of California.
Surviving grandchildren are Zeb Hering and his wife Jenny of Waco, Drew McNeill of Austin, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson of California, Ashlee Simpson Ross and Evan Ross of California, Will Smith and wife Meredith of Arizona, and Callie Smith El-Halabi and husband Kahlil of Woodway.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband A.E. Drew, her granddaughter Sarah Hering, her parents Herbert Dan Hyles and Bertha Dee Teeters Hyles, and three older siblings.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life was held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in McGregor, with interment following at the McGregor Cemetery.
