Johnny Eugene Anderson of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024. Johnny Anderson was born in McGregor, Texas, on December 1, 1955. He grew up in McGregor and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Johnny graduated from McGregor High School in 1974, where he was an outstanding athlete in football and track. He went on to graduate from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1979. Johnny graduated from the State Trooper Academy and joined the Department of Public Safety as a State Trooper. He later moved to Houston, Texas. In his continuous pursuit of excellence, Johnny climbed the ranks from Sergeant to Lieutenant. He moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and retired from DPS in 2009. Even in retirement, Johnny continued to use his dedication to service to substitute teach in Lake Dallas Independent School District. Johnny loved fishing, outdoor activities, visiting pawn shops and thrift stores, cookoffs with Big Smoke BBQ, spending time with family, community service, and listening to all genres of music.
Johnny is survived by his wife Janice Anderson; children Latrisha Chappin (husband Rodney Chappin) of Accokeek, Maryland, and Eugenia Anderson of Flower Mound; granddaughter Aniyah Anderson; brother Pat Graves and wife Sylvia of San Angelo; sister Yvette (Graves) Holland and husband Dexter of Lancaster; brother Frank Graves, Jr. and wife Ramona of McGregor; former wife, and mother of his children, Fannie Swayzer; uncle Prince Anderson, Jr. and wife Margie; aunt Gloria Morgan and husband Charles; uncle Johnny Anderson, his namesake, and wife Virginia; cousin Chris Morgan and wife Carole; brother in law Robert Jenkins; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou Anderson Graves and Frank Graves, Sr.
A celebration of Johnny’s life will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church, located at 206 Arthur Street, McGregor, Texas 76657.
A visitation viewing will be hosted at Cole Funeral Home, 1113 W 5th Street, McGregor, Texas 76657, on Friday, November 1, from 6-8 p.m.
