In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cayote Methodist Church or Cayote Community Center, 1469 CR 3505, Valley Mills, Texas 76689.
Perry was born on February 28, 1945, in Bell County. Adopted as a baby by Cullen and Mildred (Moorman) Robinson, he was raised in the Cayote community and graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1963. Despite contracting polio as a child, he played baseball at Texas Tech University from 1964–1966, after which he returned to his home in Bosque County, where he farmed and ranched all his life. Working for Bosque County for 36 years, Perry was an artist on a road grader, keeping the roads in Precinct 3 in the best condition allowed by time and budget. When needed, he was always available to jump on his maintainer and assist first responders by cutting firebreaks or pulling vehicles from flooded crossings. An avid domino player, he played regularly for decades, especially with his close friend Raymond Whitney. He was a devotee of all things sports, particularly baseball, and was a crack shot with any type of firearm. He was also a master of the bullwhip, having worked in sale barns during his younger days. For many years, he enjoyed collecting and flying flags of different countries from a platform he built on an old windmill derrick. He had a keen interest in the histories of Bosque County and World War 2. Always maintaining a good sense of humor, he lived a simple, unassuming, and productive life.
Perry is survived by the love of his life Janie Phillips, cousin Craig Robinson and wife, Dayna, and children, Carly Ochsendorf and Seth Robinson, cousin Kaye Robinson Callaway and husband, Curtis, and children Melissa Nick, and Andrea Adkins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
