Reid Chambers

Reid Wallace Chambers, 64, passed away July 20, 2024 in Palestine, Texas.

Reid was born on May 4, 1960 in Dallas, Texas, to parents Ralph Wallace Chambers and Angie Reid Chambers. He grew up in Irving Texas, where he sang as a founding member of the Irving Boy’s Choir. He graduated from Irving High School in 1978, where he played football, sang in the Irving High School Madrigal Singers and musicals.

He traveled the world from Antarctica to Canada, Brazil, Australia and Sweden while launching scientific research balloons for Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility, Palestine, Tx. After retiring from Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility, he served as deputy constable in Anderson County, Tx. for a number of years.

Reid was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Georgia Mooney Chambers and Ralph Weaver Chambers; Beryl Cantrell Reid and Phillip Reid; uncle and aunt, Thomas and Bonnie Mooney; great aunt, Lulu Chambers Gillis and his beloved cousins, Charles Mooney and Helen Reid.

He is survived by his sister, Alice Chambers; daughter, Lyric; granddaughters, Avery and Emma; nieces, Angela, Monica and MacKenzie; and great nephews, Ethan and Raymond. Also surviving are his cousins, Rita Hipp, Georgia Herring, Cathy Cantrell Chestnut, Diana Downing, Mynettte Taylor, Bonnie Mullens, Jeannine, Michael, Anna, Joseph, Elizabeth, Teresa, and Angelica Mooney and many, many friends around the world.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
