Mary Ann was born October 19, 1934, in Willisville, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Howell (Buck) Pace and Hazel (Butcher) Young, following her brother Richard Arnold. In 1952, She graduated from McGregor High School. The following year, she married her high school sweetheart, Howard Eugene Carr. She braved two years without her beloved husband while he served in the Korean War. They welcomed their first child, Craig Eugene, in 1958, and twin daughters, Pamela Ann and Patricia Ann, in 1959, and youngest daughter, Audrey Kay, in 1962. They were active members of College Avenue Baptist Church in their hometown of McGregor. Mary Ann served selflessly as a Sunday School teacher, served meals to seniors through Meals on Wheels and has assisted in countless church meals. In 1966, she retired from Central Freight Lines.
Mary Ann and Howard were faithfully married for 47 years before Howard passed away in 2000; teaching their children and grandchildren how to love well.
Her greatest legacy is encouraging her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be hard workers, selfless servants and, above all, faithful Christ followers. She always hosted family events and never missed her families’ sporting events, recitals or major life events.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her brother, Richard Arnold Young; and her daughter, Audrey Kay Brooks.
Survivors include her son, Craig, and his wife, Deanna, and their daughters, Courtney and Brittany and husband, Mark Pauls; daughter, Pam and husband, Larry Travis, and their three children: Jessica and husband, Michael Estill, Amanda and husband, Ryan Estill, and Mitchell and wife Taylor; her daughter, Trish, and husband, Marcus Kelm and their three children: Brandon and wife, Samantha, Erika and husband, Braxton Luco, and Dustin and wife, Amanda; son-in-law, David Brooks and children, Monica and husband, Barak Cloe, and Cody and wife, Sarah, as well as 18 great-grandchildren.
