Janet (Hoehn) Schmalriede

Janet (Hoehn) Schmalriede, 90, of Crawford, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 1125 W. Sixth Street, McGregor, with Pastor J.T. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Memorial Cemetery in Crawford under the direction of Cole Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, at Cole Funeral Home.

Janet was born in Coryell City on March 23, 1931, the daughter of the late Albert and Ella (Bohne) Hoehn. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from McGregor High School. On Dec. 1, 1949, she married Edward Schmalriede in McGregor, at Zion Lutheran Church. They farmed in McLennan County. She was employed by Marathon Battery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward and sister, Patsy Isbell. Survivors include four daughters, Susan Ware and husband, Larry, Brenda Tankersley and husband, Steve, Rita Welch, Karen Hemphill and husband, Larry; three sons, Curtis Schmalriede and wife, Lori, Kent Schmalriede and wife, Lorrie, Brett Schmalriede and Kathi Quinn; four sisters, Vivian Lange, Geraldine Allen and husband, Sidney, Yvonne Schmalriede, Albertine Hendrickson; two brothers Larry Hoehn and wife, Kaye, Charles Hoehn and wife Ann; nine grandchildren, Janessa Santry and husband Jonathan, Casey Nystrom and husband, Adam, Courtney Bagley and husband, Michael, Jeremy Hemphill and wife Amber, Christopher Hemphill and wife Ashley, Kendall Petty and husband, Robbie, Jenna Percivill and husband, Nick, Kelcey Kenneaster and husband Griffin, James Quinn and wife, Ashley; nine great grandchildren Brodie and Brynlee Bagley, Addison and Harper Nystrom, Kade and Ryan Hemphill, Madison Hemphill, Cooper Quinn, Piper Percivill and many beloved family and friends.

Pallbearers: Jeremy Hemphill, Christopher Hemphill, Jonathan Santry, Adam Nystrom, Michael Bagley, and James Quinn. Honorary pallbearers: Brodie Bagley, Nick Percivill, Robbie Petty and Griffin Kenneaster.
