November 05, 2026
Brian Scott Stewart, 56, of McGregor, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on October 29, 2026, in Waco, Texas. His passing leaves behind a family and friends who loved him dearly and memories that will be treasured for generations. A Memorial Gathering will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th, at Cole Funeral Home.
Born on August 21, 1970, in Gatesville, Texas, Brian spent his childhood in McGregor, where life was filled with the simple joys that often become our most treasured memories. He and his brothers and sister shared an idyllic childhood and made the kinds of memories that only childhood can hold growing up in a small town in Texas. Those early years, surrounded by family and the familiar comforts of home, helped shape the man Brian would become.
Brian was a hardworking man who spent 33 years as a sprinkler fitter, traveling and working across the United States. His career took him to many places, but when he wasn’t working, he enjoyed making the most of his time doing the things he loved. Boating, fishing, golfing, and traveling were among his favorite pastimes. Whether on the water, enjoying a fishing trip, or seeing somewhere new, Brian appreciated the opportunity to get out and enjoy life.
Above all, Brian’s family was an important part of his world. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Saylor, McCoy, and Maggie, who held a very special place in his heart. He also dearly loved his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. They knew the joy of having an uncle who loved them, spoiled them, and took great pleasure in being part of their lives. His family was a source of pride, and the love he shared with them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Stewart.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Devon Scott Stewart and wife Kenna; his beloved grandchildren, Saylor Adalynn, McCoy Scott, and Maggie Grace; his mother, Judy Ann Brinegar; his brothers, Curtis, Joe, and Bruce; his sister, Sunny; his nieces, Jessica, Kellie, Allison, and Ashley; his nephews, Joseph, Matthew, Micah, Robert, and Daniel; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved and spoiled.
Though Brian’s passing came unexpectedly, the memories of his life will continue in the stories shared around family tables, the laughter remembered from childhood, and the love carried forward by those who knew him best. His journey took him across the country, but his greatest legacy will always be the family he loved and the lives he touched along the way.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
