Dorothy Williams, a longtime McGregor resident, died Sunday morning, June 28, 2026, in McGregor at the age of 94.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 7, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 500 South Madison, McGregor, TX 76657, with Rev. David Ray officiating. Everyone is invited to a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Private inurnment will be in Crawford Cemetery. Dorothy was born April 15, 1932, in Jonesboro, TX, the daughter of the late Oscar and Mozelle (Hastings) Neel. In 1948, Dorothy graduated from Jonesboro High School and attended 4-C Business College that same year. In 1949, she obtained her first job with Sears in Waco. On July 10, 1951, she married Billy J. Williams at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Waco. Dorothy was employed as a secretary at various companies, including Hughes Aircraft in California, from which she retired in 1993 after devoting 23 years of service.
After moving to McGregor, Dorothy became an active member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Sunshine Class, the United Methodist Women, the Caring Committee, and sang in the Chancel Choir.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, one sister, her husband and a son, Thomas Dale Williams.
Survivors include two sons; Stephen Williams and wife Karen of Murrieta, CA, Bradley Williams of McGregor; grandchildren, Ginger and Jim Fisher of Los Angeles, CA, Stephen and Lindsey Williams of Murrieta, CA, Angie and Jason Schatz of Simi Valley, CA, Jesse and Cory Williams of Citrus Heights, CA, Christopher and Jenny Williams of Yorba Linda, CA, Joseph and Amarilis Williams of Irvine, CA and eleven great grandchildren.
