In Loving Memory of
Michael Dewayne Lofland

June 27, 2025
Michael Dewyane Lofland, 50, of Hewitt, Texas, passed away on June 27, 2025.
Michael was a man who lived life his own way, stubborn at times, quick with a sharp word or a grin, and always true to himself. He was bold, fiercely independent, and full of grit, but those who knew him best also saw his loyalty, deep heart, and quiet acts of love.
Michael grew up in McGregor, Texas, and graduated from McGregor High School. He went on to become a skilled auto technician with a true talent for working with his hands. Whether he was turning a wrench, crafting something from wood, or casting a line on a peaceful day of fishing, he felt most at home when he was building or outdoors. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan (even through the rough seasons) and loved the roar of a good NASCAR race.
He is survived by his son, Nolan Dewayne Lofland, who meant the world to him, and his parents, David & Joan Lofland of McGregor. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his brother, David James Lofland, and his grandparents, Walter and Elizabeth Benson, and J.C. and Nelda Lofland.
He was one of a kind. Tough, funny, and full of fire. Though he may be gone from this world, his stories, his spirit, and his love will live on in the people he cared for most.
A celebration of life will be held at Crestview Church of Christ, 7129 Delhi Rd, Waco, Texas 76712, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
A healthy McLennan County requires great community news.
